Arriving back to Desert Shadows RV Resort in late October was our plan, as we had committed to flying to the East Coast on October 23rd. Our kids had asked us to do a little babysitting while they attend a wedding in Charleston, SC. Seems like a Win-Win to us. They have reliable babysitting, we get to spend a couple of Fall days, including Halloween, in New England, while also spending quality time with our grandaughter Mac. We haven’t been in New England during the Fall in a several years and were looking forward to the Fall colors and Trick or Treating with Mac.

On our agenda most days was taking in the Fall colors, the Fall smells, the cool crisp nights, and of course the Halloween decorations. Most days we had fun with Mac at the playground, after daycare was over, walking her Golden Retriever “Dakota”, and breathing in the fall season.

Some days, when Mac was at Pre-School between 8:00 – 3:00PM, Joanne and I would take some exercise walks on the Freedom Trail, Charlestown, MA, and the City of Boston. So great to see the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill Monument, Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall, and so much more in the midst of the Fall season.

As Halloween neared we spent several evenings walking the decorated homes of Charlestown, The town square, and then attended the Charlestown Halloween Extravaganza. Mac had to be dressed up. Joanne, the consummate teacher, had ” I Spy” sheets prepared, and Mike did a lot of stroller pushing up and down the hills .

We had a terrific time with Mac while Caitlin & Bruce attended a friends wedding in Charleston, South Carolina.

Upon their return we did get a few nights to visit with them. They have busy lives as a young family and needed to get back to their routine and work life and we needed to head to Florida.
Our trip to Florida was to visit family. Joanne’s Mom and Deb & Tony. Deb & Tony are always generous and great hosts and while there we were able to vote in person this year. Always nice to be able to execute our constitutional right to vote, especially in a Presidential Election Year. Always fun to visit family in Florida though we were ready to leave after the week and get back to our rig for a few months of rest after such a busy year.
